Liife of a daily worker and how it can be improved

What is the minimum salary needed to live in India?

The average salary in India has been rising year after year, which is good news for you.

The minimum wage ranges from Rs. 2, 250(minimum salary) to Rs. 70,000 (maximum salary) a month for unskilled
workers in various states.

What counts as a living wage?

The term living wage refers to a theoretical income level that allows individuals or families to afford adequate shelter, food, and other necessities. The goal of a living wage is to allow employees to earn enough income for a satisfactory standard of living and prevent them from falling into poverty.

Was minimum wage ever meant to be a living wage?

Contrary to what some opponents of the "living wage" minimum wage may argue today, there is no question FDR intended for the minimum wage to support the wages of fully employed adult men and women working in professional trades, not merely teenagers working part-time jobs or those in entry-level positions.

A wage you can live on

We believe that all garment workers should be paid a wage they can live on; because having a job should mean being able to support yourself and your family.

Most of the world's garments are made in Asia, and yet while the clothing industry continues to make millions in profits for the big brands the workers, predominantly women, producing the clothes across Asia are being paid the least.

Workers, trade unions, campaigners and consumers are coming together to call for a living wage for all workers.

Can you survive off to minimum wage

According to official government guidelines, single people supporting themselves on minimum wage are not technically living in poverty.Employers find that paying a living wage results in increased efficiency and productivity. By paying higher wages employers are aable to hire skilled workers that would otherwise be deterred by low wages. Living wage policies result in decreased employee turnover.

                 Living Wage Calculation

The living wage shown is the hourly rate that an individual in a household must earn to support his or herself and their family. The assumption is the sole provider is working full-time (2080 hours per year). The tool provides information for individuals, and households with one or two working adults and zero to three children. In the case of households with two working adults, all values are per working adult, single or in a family unless otherwise noted.

Minimum wages are determined based on the posted value of the minimum wage as of January one of the coming year (National Conference of State Legislatures, 2019). The poverty rate reflects a person's gross annual income.

How should the maids and servants be treated in our houses

India has a tradition of keeping domestic help for centuries,.While many of the domestic help come from the same city where they are employed, many of them belong to different states/cities altogether. We always recommend that our clients get their domestic help registered with the local police station as an additional precautionary measure. It is good practice to do so and acts as a deterrent towards occurrence of any outwardly incident.

How exactly should we deal with maids

Just talk to them nicely, maids are also humans striving to provide you comforts, keep you happy and satisfied, in return they just expect care, compliments , small thank you, some respect that's all..

How should the maids behave when given all the comforts

As a maid when her owners talk to her nicely or care for her, she should make sure she pays special attention to their work, work additional hours if possible, provide best help, talk politely and help them as much as I can.
