India - A cultural richness or hypocrisy
Indians don't know the greatness of this culture. How to bring back the pride
I think one thing you have to do is write more, and rewrite the more responsible history of what has happened in this land for a long time. Not in the last three thousand years. not in the fourteen hundred years. What people have done in this land for a long time, has to be brought back.
What is not taught in schools in India
What people in this land had done for a long time, has to be brought back. In other countries, people are studying this. If you go there are Lebanese people?
If you study in a school in Lebanon, you will read about how Indian workers, Indian sculptors, Indian elephants, and Indian yoga, came and built a Phoenician temple, four thousand three hundred years ago, in Lebanon, which is called Baalbek, a phenomenal temple. We are never taught this in our schools, here in India.
What is taught in schools in India
We only read about how we were conquered, raped, looted, and beaten up by other people. Then if there is no pride, why would you want to recreate it?
You need to understand this, a culture and a nation are just an idea.
When human beings take cultural history seriously
When human beings take this on as an identity, attach some pride to it. It burns through one's mind and into his heart, now he wants to protect it, use it, keep it clean, keep it wonderful. If you do not build pride in it, then people will want to avoid it. Everybody will want to avoid it.
What is your idea of success
Now, whatever you think is most successful in the world, you will want to imitate that. Today our idea of success has become purely economic, not aesthetic. It's not the intelligence that we value, it is not the wisdom that we value, it's not the beauty or aesthetics that we value, it's not the spiritual attainments that we value. Who is the big man in the country? If you ask, will people only name the richest man in the country?
They will not name the wisest man in the country, the most beautiful man in the country, the most meditative man in the country.
The richest man in the country is the biggest man, so who is the biggest whatever, whichever is the richest nation, whichever is the richest culture.
Power and money have become the highest goals
This in itself is a very rudimentary way of looking at life.
Is India a rich cultural heritage
People belonging to diverse communities, speaking different languages, having different food, and performing different customs harmoniously coexist in the India. Thus, the soul of the cultural heritage of India lies in the fact that it's an all-embracing confluence of religions, traditions, customs and beliefs.
Does India have a rich culture
The rich heritage of India, one of the world's oldest civilizations, is an all-embracing confluence of religions, traditions and customs. The highlights of Indian heritage lie in the treasure of its art, architecture, classical dance, music, flora and fauna, and the innate secular philosophy of its people.
How did India get a rich cultural diversity
Hinduism itself formed from various distinct folk religions, which merged during the Vedic period and following periods. Especially Austroasiatic groups, such as early Munda and Mon Khmer, but also Tibetic and other Tibeto-Burmese groups, left a noteworthy influence on local Indian peoples and culture.
Which is the most culturally rich country?
•Italy. #1 in Heritage. #14 in Best Countries Overall. ...
•Greece. #2 in Heritage. #25 in Best Countries Overall. ...
•Spain. #3 in Heritage. #16 in Best Countries Overall. ...
•France. #4 in Heritage. #9 in Best Countries Overall. ...
•Mexico. #5 in Heritage. #33 in Best Countries Overall. ...
•Egypt. #6 in Heritage. ...
•Turkey. #7 in Heritage. ...
•India. #8 in Heritage.
India is so culturally rich, still, it is placed at 8th rank as the rest of the countries, trying to maintain its cultural heritage.
Is India's cultural heritage a hypocrisy
Muslims in India enjoy two different laws. Muslim Personal law governs civil cases of marriage, divorce, adoption, separation/partition of property, property/land etc. Which helps Muslims to a greater extent when the opposition is non-Muslim.
But in Criminal cases they don’t follow Muslim law, for cases relating to rape, murder and theft, where the punishment is much more severe in Islam, laws should be uniform, and they have to follow Muslim laws for both civil cases and criminal cases, it shouldn’t be like picking up laws which best suits them.
In other religions too, this hypocrisy exists
It is ironic that on one hand we worship Goddess Durga for strength, i.e., shakti yet most people claim that women are weaker than men. On one hand, we worship Goddess Saraswati for knowledge yet most families are concerned about the money to be spent on their daughter’s wedding rather than her education. On one hand, we worship Goddess Lakshmi for wealth in our life yet many women are ‘allowed’ to work and earn.
Conclusion
Culture can be preserved : By visiting a museum and going on tour to the cultural sites. Reading literature and poem on the culture of the place. Imparting cultural knowledge to the next generation.
